In this special episode, I’m bringing you an honest, deep-diving conversation about the current state of education for differently wired children. Or more to the point: what isn’t working and why? And who better to have this conversation with than our favorite former-teacher turned education and executive functioning coach Seth Perler?

Seth and I hear from parents every day: “How do we get teachers on board?” “How do we get the school to understand?” “How can we help the school to get it?” So this is exactly what we set out to tackle. We’ve identified 10 of the biggest problems we feel need to be solved in order to improve the school experience for children who are not thriving. In our discussion, Seth and I draw from our personal and professional experiences, from the countless messages we get from parents and teachers in the trenches, and from our deeply held belief in the strengths of our differently wired kids and the importance of helping them thrive.

Our hope is that parents will listen, and then share it with the teachers, principals, and school administrators in their lives. Because in order to solve these problems, we need to have honest and open conversations. We hope this episode sparks just that.

After you’ve listened, we want to hear from you! We’ve created a Google form to continue this conversation and get your feedback. We want to know your top concerns and issues as well as your top takeaways from this episode.

Note: We also recorded this conversation as a video which you can watch on Seth’s YouTube channel.
