This week I’m sharing a conversation with Dr Barry Prizant and Dave Finch about their new podcast Uniquely Human, titled after Barry’s revolutionary book Uniquely Human: A Different Way of Seeing Autism. Uniquely Human: The Podcast continues the conversation the book started on autism and neurodiversity by amplifying the voices of autistic individuals and thought leaders, and provides insightful, cutting-edge and practical information about the autistic experience. Barry is one of the world’s leading and innovative authorities on autism who has found a naturally complimentary co-host in writer and creative consultant Dave Finch, who was himself diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum as an adult and is author of The Journal of Best Practices: A Memoir of Marriage, Asperger Syndrome, and One Man’s Quest to Be a Better Husband

In our conversation, Barry and Dave tell us more about how the Uniquely Human podcast came to be, what they have planned for it, and what they hope listeners will get out of it.

About Dr. Prizant: Dr. Barry Prizant is recognized internationally as a scholar in autism spectrum disorders and childhood disabilities, with more than 40 years experience as a researcher and int’l consultant. He is an Adjunct Professor, Brown University, & Director, Childhood Communication Services. Barry has received many honors including the 2014 Honors of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2005 Princeton University-Eden Career Award in autism, and the 2013 Divine Neurotypical Award of GRASP. His most recent book is Uniquely Human: A Different Way of Seeing Autism.

About Dave: David Finch is a humorist and author of the acclaimed New York Times best-selling memoir, The Journal of Best Practices. Married in 2003 and diagnosed five years later with Asperger syndrome, David has committed himself to relentless self-improvement, sometimes to a comical extent. A former semiconductor engineer turned full-time writer and speaker, David has written for The New York Times, Huffington Post, Slate, and he writes a relationship blog for Psychology Today. But his greatest accomplishment by far has been learning how to thrive as a family man.
